Human beings weren’t meant to see the sun rise. We were meant to see the sun set. We watch the dying of things, not the dawning of them. We fear birth, we miss growth. Our life passes by quickly – in a rush, in a blur. We do not have the patience to watch a tree grow. Some do not have the patience or time to watch their own child grow. If we have a spare moment, we might catch the sun go down. The end of another day. Another day wasted? Another day closer to death? Another day passed. Another done.
Humans like to close – close deals, boxes, stores. We end things. Our lives, the lives of others. We like control. We think little of hope.
With dawn is the hope of a new day – it’s no wonder humans were meant to sleep through it.
